A musician friend suggested "Dawn of the Buffalo" as a name for the band, which was misheard as "Donna the Buffalo" and, over thirty years later, the band is still called "Donna the Buffalo". The followers of the group are called The Herd, a self-organized "tribe" of people who found each other at the group's live events.
Donna the Buffalo is one of the founding and host bands of the annual Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance, and of the Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival, and is among the headliners at The Great Blue Heron Music Festival in Sherman, New York. We are honored to have Donna the Buffalo at Another World Music Festival!

“Driftwood is basically a beautiful friendship that happens to play music together,” says Joe. “I know it's rare. I know I'm lucky to know these people and lean on them and go through these massive life changes together.” For Driftwood, each song is like a journal entry: cathartic to create, yes, but capable of unlocking new lessons—and when shared—forging new bonds. “We're communal, right? Humans need to be connected,” Joe says. “And we get to have this special thing.”

“If hurricanes could play music, they’d sound something like North Carolina’s Tan and Sober Gentlemen... They make music that’s a mix of moonshine and rocket fuel. It’s wild and free bluegrass mated with punk rock. Incorporated with unabashed Gaelic influence, they thrive from a hammer-down style."

Maddy Walsh & The Blind Spots is a tenured, original, six-piece "Moxy Rock" band (their own punchy brand of danceable indie pop-rock), steered by the soaring vocals of magnetic songstress and force of nature Maddy Walsh. The band is known for its sparkly aesthetic, from Walsh's signature sequins and white go-go boots to The Blind Spots' Thrift Shop, a big rack of wild re-purposed / secondhand clothing with the band's logo printed on to their collection of music videos created to accompany songs on all four studio albums.

Voice as a weapon, words as bullets, spreading the universal message of peace, love, and justice through music. Sure, there's a cynical cultural tendency to make certain assumptions when you hear the word "gun" associated with rap music, but this seven-member live hip-hop band from Ithaca, NY, runs contrary to that image with their positive message and uplifting performances.
Since the band formed in 2008, their stellar catalog of albums and dedication to an ever growing and energized fan base has helped propel them to the top of the Central New York music scene. In addition to being one of the top homegrown acts in their musically rich hometown, Gunpoets have become staples at regional festivals such as the Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance and the Great Blue Heron Music Festival.

Maddy Walsh (front person of nationally touring, five-piece "Moxy Rock" band Maddy Walsh & The Blind Spots) has formed a trio with Blind Spots' guitarist / songwriter, Mike Suave, and the band's backing vocalist / keyboardist, Rozlyn Menachof. The project is a stripped-down, softer version of MW&TBS and includes some Blind Spots material, songs from Walsh's solo records, and some choice covers that feature lush three-part harmonies. Where the full band offers a "dance party love'splosion" (in Walsh's own words), the trio offers an opportunity to tune in to the complexity of the lyrics and the virtuosity of her voice.

"The Sorters" emerged organically from the daily grind of Spencer, Callie, and Kyle at a farm store, where their shared passion for music led to post-work jam sessions in a cabin they constructed. Drawing inspiration from their morning task of sorting produce, the band aptly named themselves "The Sorters." With James joining as a drummer and Sam contributing mandolin and harmonica skills, the lineup solidified, enhanced later by Danny's lead guitar prowess.

Described as "Indie World," Papa Muse blends rock and world music with catchy hooks and funky dance-able grooves. Papa Muse has been compared to the Talking Heads, Rusted Root, Paul Simon, Devo and Rush. It's danceable and intelligent music. The songs are polished and often move in different directions to make them unpredictable and fresh. The lyrics are meaningful and often present an altruistic vision for humanity, deep yet relatable and easy to digest. The live show is dynamic and interactive, so while the message behind the music can be deep and introspective, the live show is light, whimsical and fun.
